Forest Grasshopper
  • Create a symmetrical design that makes the grasshopper blend into nature, stand out against nature, or seem loud even though it doesn’t make a sound. Use markers or colored pencils to draw the design on the reverse side of the grasshopper.
  • Create a collage for the grasshopper by cutting out interesting textures and patterns from old magazines and catalogs. Arrange and glue the pieces in an organized design that reflects the beauty of the grasshopper.

Spring Butterfly
Find pictures of butterflies for inspiration then create a design for the butterfly using three different colors at most. Consider using a focused color scheme, such as warm colors (yellow, green, orange) or cool color (blue, green, violet). Use markers or colored pencils to draw the design on the reverse side of the butterfly.

Metropolis Train Set
Make an abstract design that uses bold colors and text. Find examples of public murals and graffiti art for inspiration. Use markers or colored pencils to draw the design on the reverse side of the train car.

Cityscape Building Set
Explore visual concepts through play. Use some or all the cityscape pieces to create a structure that is symmetrical, asymmetrical, balanced, lopsided, or narrow.
